Pat Foley '72

Pat Foley

Patrick J. Foley ’72 is celebrating his 30th year as the Chicago Blackhawk’s announcer. After starting when he was only 26 years old as the youngest announcer in the National Hockey League, today he proudly delivers the action, intensity and excitement he sees on the ice. Pat says, “I feel very lucky to be able to live a dream I have had since Loyola. You never know what turns there are in the road but I like what I am doing.” Pat also has some advice for fellow Ramblers, “Sometimes dreams do come true, so set the bar high and go for it.” Pat earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Live Sports Program in 1991 and was inducted into the Chicago Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, joining local legends Jack Brickhouse and Harry Caray. The Class of 1972, and all Ramblers, are always proud when hearing him call the game and wish Pat continued success. Go Blackhawks! Go Ramblers!

Congratulations to Dylan Remick '09 who was drafted in the 2nd round of the Major League Soccer (MLS) draft by the Seattle franchise.

Sr. Helen Prejean comes to Loyola

Dean Man Walking

Loyola Academy had the honor and privilege of hosting Sister Helen Prejean, C.S.J on Monday, January 28, 2013. Sr. Helen spoke to the student body about her work as a spiritual advisor to death row inmates and her efforts to repeal the death penalty throughout the country. Sr. Helen is the award winning author of Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States and The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions. Sr. Helen spoke to students at Loyola Academy about her work. In her speech she talks about “Sneaky Jesus” and how He works. He called her to this social justice that she has now dedicated her life to this endeavor. Sister Helen said, “Education teaches us we can make a difference in the world.” By speaking to students about the injustices she encountered, she hoped others will make a positive change in the world.
