Anti-Cruelty Society's After School Program
Monday, May 20, 2013

The Anti-Cruelty Society is offering an exciting after school program for high school students called “Exploring the ‘Link.’”  The purpose of this program is to provide students with insight on how violence affects their selves, animals and their communities; enabling them to become advocates.  There is a well-researched and documented “Link” between cruelty to animals and violence between people.  Teaching empathy and respect for animals and nature makes families and neighborhoods stronger, and helps to combat violence in our communities.

This is a nine-week program.  Students will engage in fun, hands-on activities aimed at helping broaden their understanding of animal welfare issues, including direct interaction with shelter animals.  It meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m., and runs from October through the first week of December.  CTA passes will be provided for students who need them.  Applications can be found online at www.anticruelty.org/afterschool and are due by September 9th.  If you have any questions, please contact Katie-Sue Fisher at kfisher@anticruelty.org.
