Loyola Academy Partnership with Northshore Concert Band to Benefit Students, Community
Loyola Academy is pleased to announce a newly formed partnership with Northshore Concert Band (NSCB), a 100-member symphonic band active in the Chicago metropolitan area. Beginning at the start of the 2022-2023 school year, this partnership will greatly benefit Loyola students and enable NSCB to regularly utilize our beautiful new Leemputte Family Theater.
Most notably, the partnership makes possible a number of enriching educational opportunities for Loyola students such as:
Annual side-by-side concerts with Northshore Concert Band
Participation at Northshore Concert Band’s annual Festival of Music
Weekly open rehearsals at Loyola Academy Center for the Performing Arts
Music coaching with NSCB musicians, including Dr. Mallory Thompson, NSCB’s artistic director. Dr. Thompson is director of bands, professor of music, coordinator of the conducting program, and holds the John W. Beattie Chair of Music at Northwestern University, where she was named a Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence and conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting, and administers all aspects of the band program.
In addition, the partnership signifies renewed engagement with the Loyola Academy community via:
Outreach to Loyola Academy feeder schools for annual Lifetime of Music event
Volunteer opportunities and discounted concert tickets for Loyola Academy families
We invite you to mark your calendars for three concerts at Loyola during the 2022-23 season!
