During the month of March, Women Leaders of Loyola, Women in STEAM, By: Women, and Student Council led the school community in celebrating Women's History Month with a number of reflective activities and learning opportunities. One of this year's focus was on celebrating women's sports. This was especially fitting since Loyola's girls' basketball team wrapped up an undefeated 2023–24 season as State Champions in early March.
Women's History Month kicked off with a bake sale to benefit Well of Mercy, a residential program that supports single-parent families holistically to address educational needs, spiritual growth and development, physical well-being, and emotional health.
Student Activities launched an Instagram campaign in which featured posts highlighted notable women in various fields on the following schedule:
Motivation Monday featured uplifting quotes from inspiring women such as Serena Williams and Dolly Parton.
Female Friday promoted businesses and organizations that are owned by women. The organizations highlighted included: Brown Sugar Bakery, the only Black women-owned chocolate manufacturer in the U.S.; and Sarah's Circle, an organization that strives to end homelessness for women.
In addition, Women in STEAM made a series of posts on Instagram to highlight the contributions to science, literature, and art made by women including Dr. Mae Jemison, Jane Goodall, and Amanda Gorman. Student Council created an Instagram reel asking students to share about a woman they admire.
Throughout the hallways, bulletin boards featured notable women and their contributions throughout history. By: Women and Women Leaders of Loyola created a bulletin board highlighting female writers and other famous women in history like Louisa May Alcott, Rosa Parks, and Amelia Earhart. Motivational quotes were on display in girls' bathrooms to uplift Ramblers throughout the month.
Student Council also sponsored a special Name That Tune: Women's History Edition that featured music from female artists in pop, country, and more.
A special thank you to Women Leaders of Loyola, Women in STEAM, By: Women, and Student Council who planned these wonderful activities to help our school community celebrate this special month.
