Architecture Chapter Visits The Cliff Dwellers

On Wednesday, December 7, members of the Loyola Academy chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students participated in the annual Christmas Show and Tell at the Cliff Dwellers Club in downtown Chicago. The Cliff Dwellers Club, located high atop the 200 South Michigan Avenue building, serves the artist community in Chicago—particularly architects and designers. The club hosted this annual Society of Architectural Historians event.
Loyola Architecture Club President Anthony Michi '18 and Vice President Veronica Fischer '18 led the small team of students in a discussion and visual presentation of the San Pablo Church renovation in the Philippines in front of the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians.

The audio portion of Loyola's digital production was cut-out so that the students would address the society's members more directly.

"Be sure to place on your resumes that you made your presentation to the SAH," remarked Bill Locke, who was in charge of the dinner. He suggested that participation in this event will help students secure their choices for college.

Kathy Ulowetz '18, Sebastian Rodriguez '19, Reis O'Donnell '17, Victor Piechowiak '19 and Chris Bush-Moline '20 were also in attendance.

In addition to the chapter members, Loyola parents Mrs. Brenda Bush, an architect with VOA Associates, Mr. Jerry Piechowiak, who  runs his own Information technology business, and AIAS faculty moderator Mr. Jim Cleland were also in attendance. Mrs. Bush and Mr. Piechowiak gave our students a greater understanding of how important a digital interface is to potential architects and designers.

Before the end of the evening, students were able to tour the Louis Sullivan Library to see how architecture was practiced one century ago.
