Rev. Peter A. Brooks, SJ (1985)
General Nomination, Friend of Athletics
As a young scholastic in the 1920's, Peter Brooks was a vibrant pep rally speaker, organizer, and promoter of Academy Athletics. Along with Father John Sullivan S.J., he was responsible for the renewed interest in and resurgence of Loyola Academy sports after the First World War. Our "Mr. Brooks" originated the "pep", a weekly sports bulletin, ran a schoolwide intramural track meet each Memorial Day, and re-instituted bonfire pep rallies. He remains one of the most beloved men in Loyola memory.
