Charlie was chosen as the outstanding player in the Chicago Catholic League in 1974. * He finished his high school career with a 20-7 mark, a 1.78 ERA and two no-hitters. After one year at Miami of Ohio, he was signed by the Cincinnati Reds and later played for the Kansas City Royals.
