A merit scholarship is a financial award students receive based on specific criteria. Merit scholarships are not based on a family's demonstrated financial need. To receive a merit-based scholarship, applicants must take the Loyola Academy entrance exam (Loyola administers the High School Placement Test).

    The Loyola Academy Bellarmine Scholar Award is an academic honor bestowed upon members of the incoming freshman class. The Bellarmine Scholar Award honors St. Robert Bellarmine, SJ, who was a doctor of the Church.
