Loyola Academy Bands Perform Side-by-Side Concert with Northshore Concert Band
On Wednesday, November 20, Loyola Academy Bands performed their annual side-by-side concert with Northshore Concert Band (NCB) in the Leemputte Family Theater. The performance was an excellent opportunity for Loyola students to perform alongside professional musicians, celebrating a unique partnership and providing a rich musical experience for our students and the community alike. The evening was a wonderful showcase of talent, passion, and artistic collaboration—the second in a series of annual concerts as part of an enriching partnership between LA and NCB.
Established in 1956, the 100-member Northshore Concert Band has gained international recognition for its musical excellence, leadership in community music, and commitment to music education. The evening's performance was conducted by NCB's Artistic Director and Director of Bands at Northwestern University Dr. Mallory Thompson.

Rambler Reflections: "It was absolutely wonderful. Dr. Mallory does a wonderful job introducing the pieces. I think it should be marketed to a larger audience. It feels like such a steal to be listening to these talented musicians for free." — Lia Nafe '25
"The NCB concert experience is overall a great experience for students in all grades. Meeting all the members of the NCB is always fun, especially once you get to know them because they are very welcoming and helpful. Students, especially underclassmen, get to see what it's like to be in a bigger band with instruments they've never worked with and a very professional conductor. The pieces being played always offer a good amount of challenges, with a meaningful background which is always mentioned during the concert." — Raquel Velasquez ’25
