Guest Artist Stephen Serio P '16, '18 Exhibits Photography in the PAC
On Thursday, November 21, artist Stephen Serio P '16, '18, opened his exhibition, Chicago: taken in stride, in the Student Gallery of the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center.
The exhibition features a series of photographs taken by Serio with his iPhone over a period of ten years. Serio invited various Chicagoans to view the images and share written reflections on what they saw. These testimonials are displayed beneath each photograph, emphasizing that no two viewers interpret an image in the same way. Through this exhibition, Serio celebrates the integral role of the viewer in the photographic experience.
Stephen Serio is an award-winning photographer based in Chicago with extensive professional experience. He specializes in environmental portraits, photojournalism, food, and event photography. His work in both still photography and video consistently captures the essence of his subjects—whether a person, place, or concept. His strong sense of visual storytelling, honed during his tenure as a freelance photographer for the Chicago Tribune and as a staff photographer for Crain's Chicago Business for nine years, is particularly well-suited for today's content-driven communications. Serio has also produced, shot, and edited video for both news and feature assignments, and his expertise extends to creating high-quality images on deadline in both studio and on-location settings.
