Seniors Honored at Glenview Optimist Club Breakfast

On November 15, five seniors from Loyola Academy attended the Glenview Optimist Club breakfast, where they received the 2023 Ralph Lynch Youth Appreciation Awards for excellence in the following areas of achievement: citizenship, religious service, scholarship, sportsmanship, and vocational ability. The event was held at North Shore Country Club and included a delicious breakfast and gathering of honorees with family, friends, teachers, counselors, and clergy.
Congratulations to Emma Burke ’24 for excellence in sportsmanship; Parker Lofstrom-Austin '24 for excellence in vocational ability; Sofia Garcia '24 for excellence in religious service; Ryan Kunitzer '24 for excellence in scholarship; and Christopher Sipe '24 for excellence in citizenship. These students represent Glenview’s best and brightest young leaders.

Calls for nominations went out in early October and students were notified of their awards in November.

The Glenview Optimist Club is a part of Optimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization that conducts positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. The Glenview chapter was founded in 1961 and raises money for the youth in Glenview and distributes it through scholarships, youth programs, and community events. The award is named for Glenview Optimist Ralph Lynch, who led the annual event for 25 years. Lynch passed away in January 2023 at the age of 84.
