The Ramblers played lights-out defense in the IHSA regional championship game vs Maine South on Friday, March 2. They limited the Hawks to only five field goals on their way to capturing a 48–29 victory. Connor Barrett '19 led the way with 18 pts and Kevin Cunningham '18 added 12. This is the second consecutive regional championship for the Ramblers.
Congratulations to Head Boys' Basketball Coach Tom Livatino, who was voted by his peers as the Tony Lawless Award Winner for Coach of the Year in the Chicago Catholic League! This marks the third time in six years that Coach Livatino has received this honor.
On Friday, December 22, the boys’ varsity basketball team defeated Brother Rice 58–42 at home during a special celebration of LA Alumni Night. But the win and welcoming back alumni were not the only successes of the night—the game also increased awareness for stage four breast cancer and raised over $6,000 for the METAvivor Foundation.
The boys’ varsity basketball team won the Gulfshore Holiday Hoopfest, held in Naples, Florida, for the second year in a row! Throughout the four day tournament, Loyola Academy fans represented the largest fan base despite being the team farthest from home. Among Loyola’s dedicated fans was Principal Kathryn M. Baal, PhD.
